Toby and Dan welcome you to Magdalen Health. 16 years on from our humble beginnings in Toby’s front room, we now offer a range of effective therapies from a beautiful period clinic in the heart of Exeter. We have carefully selected the best practitioners who each have areas of special interest, to provide you with the best possible standards of treatment and advice. We treat all ages and types of pain, injury and health concerns. We are privileged to be able to look after your health and wellbeing.

Daniel H

Daniel Hayward

B.Sc. (Hons) Ost, B.Sc. (Hons) Psych. Registered Osteopath and Specialist Cranial Osteopath’

Daniel qualified from the British School of Osteopathy in 1999. He practiced in his native East Anglia and then was lucky enough to spend two years in Australia and New Zealand working alongside renowned osteopaths treating both performers and athletes.

He tailors his treatment to best suit his patient’s needs. He uses muscle and joint release techniques to help restore balance to the body and alleviate painful areas. He is skilled at explaining how other underlying health problems can contribute to musculoskeletal pain. As such his treatments can often help more complex cases.

The comfort of his patients is always a priority. Daniel will also offer individual stretch programs to help support your recovery from injury.

He has a special interest in the treatment of expectant mums, babies and children. He continues to study specialist training in cranial osteopathy following the biodynamic model. Daniel has completed level 3 paediatrics and level 8 of the adult pathway.

Daniel also has special interests in treating Achilles tendon injuries and TMD (temporomandibular dysfunction – jaw joint pain and dysfunction).

In his spare time Daniel enjoys cycling, swimming, fitness and days out with his young family.

Toby B

Toby Borradaile

B.Sc (Hons) Ost. Registered Osteopath and Sports Injury Specialist

Toby qualified from the British School of Osteopathy in 2000.

He specialises in a wide range of injuries including sports, such as running, cycling, rugby, football, ballet, swimming and golf.

Toby’s main areas that he treats are: Neck and shoulder with headaches including frozen shoulder, rib pain, lower back and pelvic pain. He’s an expert on runner’s knee, foot and groin injuries.

He will do what he can to help you recover from your pain. He uses a variety of techniques, such as deep soft tissue manipulation, stretching, trigger point therapy with acupuncture needles and gentle spinal manipulation. Patients tend to respond quickly to this type of treatment. He will refer to specialists if necessary for further investigations. He gives plenty of advice and stretching exercises If necessary. Toby’s main source of referrals are by word of mouth.

Toby is West country born and bred, he moved back from London a few years ago to concentrate on Exeter Osteopaths, however he still goes up to London once a month to work at a private clinic.

He has experience working with rugby clubs and was semi-professional for Wasps for two years. He encountered numerous injuries in the past which has helped the treatment of his patients.

Megan Heath

Sports Therapist 

Megan is a qualified Sports Therapist currently in her final year of study at the University of Plymouth.

She has worked alongside several Rugby Union and Rugby 7’s teams providing on and off the pitch rehabilitation and management for acute and chronic injuries. Megan is also an avid rugby player, representing Devon, Southwest Englandand England Talent Development Groups. She currently plays for Cullompton Ladies RFC.

Her experience of treatment both on and off the rugby pitch has allowed Megan to develop a multidisciplinary approach to treating injuries. She combines hands on treatments, such as massage and mobilisations, with exercise-based rehabilitation to strengthen and stabilise functional movement patterns.

Ankle instability, non-specific knee and hip pain are personal favourites of Megan’s to treat. She has also first-hand experience and knowledge treating other musculoskeletal injuries such as tendonitis, sprains and strains.

Morice K

Morice Kennedy

Acupuncturist, Bowen Therapist, Homeopath and Reflexologist

Morice originally qualified as an Osteopath with the British Federation of Osteopaths. She later studied Homeopathy, Acupuncture and gained qualifications in these subjects.

Morice worked for many years with her father, who was a renowned Homoeopath and a master of Acupuncture. He found with Professor Jack Worsley the Western Authority of Acupuncture the college of Traditional Acupuncture of Leamington Spa.

Morice has worked extensively in private practice. She is also qualified in Reflexology (the western term for the alarm points for the meridians Acupuncture.) The Bowen Technique and Naturopathy (diet and nutrition)

Morice has been involved in the Martin Dale Trust, which was founded by her father Professor Malcom Stemp, this was founded to promote all forms of natural medicine.

Morice is a Chairman of the Fellowship of Homeopaths which is affiliated with the Martin Dale Trust. She has lectured widely with both associations.

Morice is married to Tom, they have 2 daughters. Her interests, Family, Theatre/ Outdoor pursuits.

Charlotte K

Charlotte Kennedy

Facials, Therapeutic Massage

Charlotte qualified from Exeter College in 2016 in Level 2 Beauty Therapy and has sinceworked at various spas doing massage and facials

Charlotte is qualified in Swedish massage, Electrical facials, Decléor facials and Hot Stone Massage. She is currently studying Aromatherapy and other courses to gain morequalifications and experience to progress within the clinic.

Charlotte tailors every treatment to meet the patient needs and she loves offering various treatments to make her patient’s feel relaxed and pampered.

Charlotte has a special interest in facials and massage. In the future she would like to progress and do aesthetics for the face and body.

Holly Bassett

Registered Osteopath  M.Ost.

Holly graduated from Marjon University with a distinction level Masters in Osteopathic Medicine.

Having a structural approach to treatment, Holly has experience treating conditions ranging from acute musculoskeletal pain to patients with chronic fatigue syndromes and fibromyalgia.

Holly has a background in martial arts and has competed in Tae Kwondo at a national level. Together with her strength and conditioning knowledge from CrossFit, Holly adapts rehab & training plans to suit her patients.

Holly has a special interest in women’s health & is experienced in treating pregnancy and menstrual related pain.

Jack de Winton

Sports Therapist 

Jack is a qualified Sports Therapist with a first-class degree from the University of Gloucestershire.

Since graduating he has had the opportunity to treat people with wide ranging injuries and conditions, and more recently professional athletes.

You will feel the benefits of his treatment using combination of hands – on treatment, including massage and mobilisation, as well as exercise-based strategies, which relate to your specific movement patterns. Relieving your pain and preventing it from reoccurring again by improving your strength, giving tailored health advice and addressing your  lifestyle factors is Jack’s aim.

If you are suffering with chronic lower back pain, hip pain or ankle instability, book in as they are Jack’s areas of expertise. He has also treated also many other musculoskeletal conditions.

In his spare time Jack enjoys playing sports such as football, tennis and golf as well as keeping active in the gym.

Phil Wylie

Running Coach

Phil is a running, duathlon and triathlon coach. His achievements are notable.

– (29.30min 10 km) 3rd fastest ever 10 km by a British men’s MV40 (29.42 minutes)
– 2x European Bronze of Duathlon Elite
– 2x British Elite Duathlon Champion
– World Triathlon Age Group Championship Gold

Branch Manager

Sarah has a wealth of experience in administration and management in the health sector. She has seen and dealt with most administrative problems and this means she can keep the practice running smoothly and efficiently. She may look calm on the exterior, but is always thinking of the next task even before it has raised its head. Sarah is passionate about delivering a high level of customer service within the clinic to ensure every patient has a fantastic patient journey.
